Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup nuts almonds, walnuts, or pine nuts
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Lemon juice for added flavor

Instructions
 

  • Wash basil leaves and peel garlic cloves.
  • Optionally, toast nuts in a dry skillet for 2-3 minutes.
  • Add basil, garlic, Parmesan, and nuts to a food processor. Pulse until chopped.
  • Slowly drizzle in olive oil while processing until smooth. Add more oil or water for desired consistency.
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, pepper, or lemon juice.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different nuts or reduce olive oil for even fewer calories. Use this pesto to top pasta, grilled veggies, or as a spread for sandwiches.
